Elijah Wood was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on the 28^th of January 1981, and is the beloved son of Warren and Debra (ex Krause) Wood. Elijah Jordan Wood has also a brother named Zachariah "Zach" Wood and a sister named Hannah Wood.
Becoming a star and familiar to everyone in the world, especially after the character from the trilogy The Lord of the Rings, Frodo, the young actor studied piano from the age of 10, and also modeling. He was part of the school choir, and also played in plays such as The Sound of Music, and The Wizard from Oz.

At very short time after he moved in Los Angeles, Elijah got his first role in a movie. Even though it was not that popular, the production Back To Future Part II was a huge success, recording over 330 million dollars at the box office. After this followed a series of important roles, from the category of child actor, in the movies: "Avalon" (1990), "Paradise" (1991), "Day-O" (1992), "Forever Young" (1992), "Radio Flyer" (1992), "The Adventures of Huck Finn" (1993), "The Good Son" (1993), "North" (1994), "The War" (1994) and "Flipper" (1996). In 1997, the actor received his first role as an adult actor, in the television series "Oliver Twist". During the same year, the actor starred in the drama The Ice Storm, which turned out to be a failure because of the financial perspectives.

One year later, in 1998, Elijah Wood played along Robert  Duvall, Tea Leone and Morgan Freeman in the SF drama, Deep Impact, a mega production, which registered impressive numbers at the box office, almost 350 million dollars. Then followed the apparition in another four movies, not that popular though: , "The Faculty" (1998), "The Bumble Bee Flies Anyway" (1999 – main character), "Black and White" (1999) and "Chain of Fools" (2000), 2001 being a preannounced year of celebrity and popularity, due to his role as Frodo Baggins, a hobbit who earned the Sauron ring, from his cousin, Bilbo Baggins.

Elijah Wood starred in all three movies: The Lord of The Rings: "The Fellowship of the Ring" in 2001, "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" in 2002, and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King", in 2003.

The Lord of the Rings series, directed by Peter Jackson, had a huge impact on cinematography worldwide, managing to gather 3 billion dollars. For his role, Elijah won "Visual Effects Society Award", "Screen Actors Guild Award", Phoenix Film Critics Society Award (two times), Online Film Critics Society Award, National Board of Review USA, MTV Movie Award (at the category Best team on screen), Empire Award UK, Broadcast Film Critics, Saturn Award (Best Actor), and many other nominations.

In 2004, Elijah played Patrick in the romantic movie "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", with Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet and Kirsten Dunst. The story who tells the importance of memories in couples; lives, grossed a bit over 72 million dollars, becoming a huge success for the producers. One year later, he played with Bruce Willis and Jessica Alba in the thriller "Sin City", inspired from the novel with the same name, of Frank Miller. The story presents John Hartigan (played by Bruce Willis), an officer who tries to stop a pedophile and a killer, named Roark Junior (played by Nick Stahl) from raping and murdering an 11-year old girl. The young Elijah Wood plays a spectacular character, being a murderer and wanted by Marv (Mickey Rourke) because he had killed his wife. This movie registered an income of 158 million dollars.

The actor also played in the movies "Child in the Night" (1990), "Internal Affairs" (1990), "The Witness" (1990), "Ash Wednesday" (2001), "The Adventures of Thumb and Thumbelina" (2002 – voce), "All I Want aka Try Seventeen" (2002), "The Long and Short of It" (2003), "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over" (2003), "Everything Is Illuminated" (2005), "Green Street" (2005), "Bobby" (2006), "Happy Feet" (2006 – voce), "Paris, Je T'aime" (2007), "Day Zero" (2007), "The Oxford Murders" (2008), "9" (2009 – voice), "The Romantics" (2010), "Fight For Your Life: Revisited" (2011), "Happy Feet Two" (2011 – voce).

Right now, he is filming "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" and "The Hobbit: There And Back Again", movies that will hit the big screens soon in 2012 and 2013, when the young actor will be playing Frodo Baggins. Elijah Wood is a well known music passionate, guilty as charged, owning by far over 4000 CDs. His favorite band is Smashing Pumpkins. The actor became in 2008 the first person who passed the Victoria Falls on a rope, during the show "Adrenaline Junkie". Also, he is known as a huge philanthropist, organizing and participating at various charity campaigns.
